something good can work

Things have been a whirlpool of crazy lately, as I am currently preparing for the big move home. It's alarming to realize how much a hoarder like me accumulates over the course of a year. Perhaps this is where I confess that I had snagged a can of A&W root beer at the Filipino market and sincerely wanted to save it for a special occasion...

Despite all the sorting of things into trash, friend giveaways, and to-send-home, I've managed to find the time to kick-off a new exercise regime. For the past month or so, I've mildly hopped onto the P90X bandwagon. I have failed at sticking to the schedule (which I will probably attempt once I'm back in the US of A), but I have endured about 4 workouts per week, keeping the Ab Ripper, Cardio X, Kenpo, and Core Synergistics on my rotation. My main goal is just to get toned for the summer, as we all try to do, and if I happen to shed a few lbs in doing so, I will happily embrace it.

I prefer to wear fitted clothes during my periods of fitness, like leggings or yoga shorts paired with a tank. It's a bit of a motivation booster for me, almost as if I can see the "goo", as Tony Horton likes to call it, melt away. I'm a believer in the idea that liking what you wear will promote positive energy; not to mention, forking over the money for cute workout clothes may be that extra push you need to get moving... literally.

when I'm with you

At one point or another, we've all shared songs with a special someone. So, in light of this holiday, these are just some tunes that remind me of my "special someone".

What songs do you and your boyf/girlf have together?

  1. Pnau - Baby (Breakbot Remix)
  2. Beach House - Real Love
  3. Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros - Home
  4. Architecture in Helsinki - Maybe You Can Owe Me
  5. Noah and the Whale - 5 Years Time
  6. CocoRosie - By Your Side
  7. Peter Bjorn and John - Paris 2004

in my room

(Urban Outfitters necklace, Korean boutique sweater, F21 skirt, tights, ASOS boots)

Long time, no outfit post. I purchased this nifty little sweater over the weekend after remembering some sound advice from a good friend: get as much shopping done as I can here before I leave. I'll have to raid the boutiques again in search of more knits and the like as soon as my paycheck lands in my overused bank account.

Things I've realized recently: I've become a little scotch tape crazy when doing my nails.

for dry skin

Skincare has always been an important part in my daily regime. Ever since I was 12, my mom has drilled it into my head that I should be moisturizing and wearing sunscreen errday. These are some products that have reached staple status for fighting off flaky winter skin slash maintaining a healthy glow.

1. Laura Mercier Flawless Skin Perfecting Water Moisture Mist - I typically use this at night, unless I need that extra boost of hydration, before putting on moisturizer. It not only helps prep your skin for treatments and serums, but also protects skin against the dry winter air.

2. Boscia Intensifying Moisture Pack + - I discovered this product last year and have been in la-la-love ever since. It's so lightweight and glides on smoothly; not to mention, it makes my face feel ultra soft. I've found that a little really does go a long way with this cream.

3. Fresh Soy Cleanser - I love that this is an all-in-one, as it gentle enough to remove eye makeup and cleanse at the same time. The soy in the product is said to promote moisture retention, which leaves my skin feeling soft and not dry afterwards.

4. C.O. Bigelow Power Berry Mask - I use this mask about once a week for 15 minutes. It helps to fight against aging and skin dehydration and leaves your face smelling amazing!

5. Vaseline - We all have a tub of Vaseline somewhere! Not only do I use it to aid my chapped lips, but it also works for any dry patches you may have around your nose or anywhere else that is prone to flakiness.

6. Oatmeal - I've been creating oatmeal masks for myself once a week as well. Oats deep cleanse your pores, absorb and remove surface dirt, and hydrate and soften your skin. The magical thing about it is you can alter it or add in extra ingredients to cater to your conditions. For instance, honey and olive oil are used to combat dryness.

7. Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Refinisher - This product reduces the appearance of pores and repairs uneven skin texture, flakiness, and roughness. It has a silky, fresh finish that leaves your skin feeling smoother than ever.

8. Clinique All About Eyes Rich - You can't forget about eye creams either. I like the richness of this eye treatment. It hydrates as well as minimizes the appearance of undereye circles, shadows and fine lines.

25

Just some photos via Instagram of some goods I received on my birthday (Coca-Cola Lip Smackers not included). I fully intend to parade around school in my BIGBANG socks, which I must find more of before I leave. I may or may not have more pictures to post as my digital camera has been "on vacation" as of late.

a perfect mess

After an embarrassing disaster featuring me and the dakkochi (Korean skewered chicken) I absolutely HAD to have before missing the last train home, I've been lusting for a new purse to tote. My current satchel is still in tact, minus a few sauce stains, but don't we all look for an excuse to justify a future purchase?

I tend to like the same style of bag and have a habit of choosing colored ones only. Brights are on trend for the upcoming season, so it's only right that I have my eye on two that include neon shades. These are some that I came across that are giving me something to think about.

who's got yr money

Please ignore my slob kabob appearance. I've been living in plaid shirts as of late. I've also been off spending money on frivolous things. It originally started out as a trip to Myeongdong to find a Valentine's gift for le boyf, but it resulted in loitering the food court in the Lotte Department Store (hence the cupcakes) and perusing through Korean cosmetics stores. I never really took advantage of how cheap nail varnishes are here, and sadly, I only packed a few staple colors with me. I'll be sure to try these soon, as my diagonal design is starting to chip away already.

PS, peep my new pair of specs that I purchased yesterday!

black magic

Infinite yays for being on vacation until next Wednesday. I used today to experiment with my nails, thus the end result. It was super easy, even for someone like me, who still has some trouble keeping 'em kempt and staying in the lines.

I painted my nails with Sephora by OPI's Don't Feed the Hand Models first, let it dry for about half an hour, and placed a piece of Scotch tape diagonally, covering the bottom half. Holy long sentence. I then used two coats of OPI's Black Onyx followed by Seche Vite's Top Coat... to top it all off.

black & blue

(Urban Outfitters fur collar, Urban Outfitters lace top, H&M skirt, Aldo boots, Express ring)

I wish I wasn't so awkward at taking pictures. Note to self: practice more! Also, I don't think I really have old lady fingers irl...

I wore this on Saturday night after spending the day in bed, napping and relishing in guilty pleasures, like Jersey Shore. Some friends decided to meet in Hongdae, where we jammed to a nostalgic playlist at Brand Nu (known for playing hip-hop classics), danced at Zen III, and somehow made our way down a sketchy alley to Club 500. I wish I had gotten more pictures of it because that place was modeled after a cave... a dubstep cave, in which there was approximately one girl per every five guys.

Regardless, I think my dance-bug is back.

I can make it better

I'm home sick with a headache and nausea, thus Friday night antics will have to go on without me. I'm spending the night in with a few movies on my to-watch list, like Another Year and Terri. And since I'm currently solo in my apartment, that is until the boyf comes home from work slash dinner... I have this playlist to keep me in good company.

Happy 설날 weekend, everyone!
  1. Mayer Hawthorne - A Long Time
  2. Sam Cooke - Chain Gang
  3. jj - My Way
  4. Neon Indian - Polish Girl
  5. Pnau - Baby (Breakbot Remix)
  6. The Whispers - I Can Make It Better
  7. El Perro Del Mar - Change of Heart (Rakamonie Remix)
  8. Germany Germany - Symmetry
  9. Chromeo - J'ai Claque La Porte

a new sky

(ASOS scarf, Topshop lace top, American Apparel chiffon skirt, charcoal grey sweater tights, ASOS boots, vintage bracelet)

The big bracelet was one of the last things I bought right before I left for Korea. A friend introduced me to Vintage Underground in Wicker Park, Chicago, where we spent the longest time perusing through their colossal assortment in jewelry. I don't really own much jewelry to begin with, though most of what I have are statement pieces that I couldn't live without. And I think this one is one of my favorites.

out there on the ice

(Korean boutique coat and dress, hat from street vendor, NastyGal velvet leggings, Urban Outfitters fur collar, TopShop satchel)

Hi, I'm Tiffany and I like to pose awkwardly in photos to showcase my superb skating skills.

The boyf and I headed into Seoul yesterday night to partake in some late night ice-skating. Let's just say that there was a layer of snow covering the rink and the blades on our skates were the opposite of sharp. But 'twas fun doing laps and jamming to some KPop hits... never mind the fact that little kids were showing me up.

We ended the night in Hongdae where some way classy street drinking took place. Note: the bottle of soju, the can of beer, and the bottle of cider for chasing purposes. I'm going to miss getting a cheap buzz for $1; it's like my Korean FourLoko.

punker plus

Daisy Lowe is a fav style icon of mine. I'm a little in love with her rocker chic appeal and the quirky accents she introduces to outfits. Not to mention she makes me want to chop my side bangs and rock a wine-hued lipstick to run my daily errands.

where we trip the light

I've been pretty lazy with my outfit choices as of late; they mostly all consist of leggings, a dress, and an oversized sweater of some sort. The digi perm I had done months ago is nearing its end, thus the headband. It's easy and adds a touch of personality to an otherwise ordinary ensemble. I need to get rid of these winter blues!

we need a resolution

Essie - East Hampton Cottage

Infinite apologies for the poor, unkempt nails photo. But I've been too obsessed with this color lately to not confess it to the people of the interwebs. I have a love/hate relationship with nudes, as I am really particular about them being too white or not opaque enough. In fact, it was such a fluke that I ended with this in my varnish collection. I initially made a trip to Ulta to purchase Ballet Slippers after hearing so much about it. I suppose this one had been misplaced, and the rest is history!

It's the perfect pearly shade with just a touch of pink shimmer. The consistency is creamy and for me it took about 3 coats to achieve a true opaque finish. As most lighter shades go, the application can be tricky to avoid streaking, but it's too lovely a polish for that to turn me against it. Not to mention it is buildable.

Pigmentation: 5/5
Application: 4/5
Longevity: 4/5
